Safa is not available to accept new clients.

Safa earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a Behavioural Health Scholars Fellow at UPMC’s Paediatric Intensive Outpatient Program in Wexford, Pennsylvania, where she specialized in treating OCD through Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Simultaneously, she was an active member of the University of Pittsburgh’s LEND program, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support children and families challenged with neurodevelopmental and related disorders.

In addition to her ERP training, Safa has completed specialized training in Therapeutic Play Skills through the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute. She integrates play-based approaches into ERP when working with children and youth, recognizing that play can lower anxiety, increase engagement, and make exposures developmentally appropriate and meaningful. For example, children with contamination OCD may practice exposures by “contaminating” toy figures with playdough “germs” or using slime to gradually face sticky, messy textures. Those with perfectionism or “just right” OCD may build block towers and intentionally leave them slightly crooked, learning to tolerate discomfort while still having fun. Through these playful, hands-on methods, Safa helps young clients approach their fears in manageable steps while fostering creativity and resilience.

At OCD North, Safa fosters a compassionate and empowering environment where clients can navigate challenges and uncover their inner strengths.
